BARBERTON is known as the “GEM OF THE LOWVELD and  “THE GENISIS OF LIFE”.  Tourists come from all over the world to view the home of the BARBERTON DAISY  (Gerbera Jamisoni),  to enjoy the sights of the Old Gold Rush Town and view all the Historical places.   “If you have not been to BARBERTON  you have certainly missed out !!”

BARBERTON’S  geological history goes back 3.5 billion years.  Scientists  also come from all over the world to view and study some of the oldest rocks found in the mountains showing traces of life’s origin.Barberton was proclaimed a town on 24th July 1884 and named after the brothers Fred and Hendry Barber who were prospecting for gold near Rimer’s Creek when they discovered a rich gold reef.

The area is rich with birdlife and you can see the Purple Crested and Knysna Turaco, and Narina Trogon.   Quad biking, hang gliding, Micro light flights,  hiking trails, fishing, and game viewing on various game farms are within easy reach of the  area.  It is on the borders of Swaziland and Mozambique with tarred roads all the way;  within an hour you can be in the Kruger National Park.
